In 2018 the Florida gulf coast was struck by a strong category 5 hurricane, Michael. Winds in excess of 150 mph devastated the previously forested region taking many people’s livelihoods that relied on the timber industry.

In 2020 we founded Native Pines Bonsai to begin reclaiming these lands for (tiny)forestry. At the core of Native Pines Bonsai is a cooperative of local land owners who work to provide quality, ground-grown, pre-bonsai material to artists nationwide.
